Who Should Be College Basketball’s No. 1 Ranked Team?

The following is a guest post and does not necessarily reflect the opinions of butr.net.

The NCAA basketball rankings are sure to be thrown for a loop when Monday comes around, as the current No.1, Kansas, was throttled by Kansas State while last week’s No.1, Ohio State, lost at Wisconsin and face a tough trip to Purdue. Here’s a look at who the top five will face this weekend.

Kansas – The Jayhawks will host Colorado in what should be a win, but will it be enough to keep them in the top spot after losing by 16 at Kansas State on Monday?

Ohio State – The Buckeyes face a tough trip to West Lafayette to play Purdue, who are ranked 11th. Ohio State didn’t look great in a home win over Michigan State, and they needed a sloppy, turnover-filled game by the Spartans to come away with the win.

Texas – The Longhorns may be the most impressive team in this list, taking an 11-game winning streak in Lincoln to face Nebraska, who have been great at home this season, posting a 15-1 record with a lone loss against Kansas.

Pittsburgh – The Panthers are atop the tough Big East, but they have a trip to Madison Square Garden to take on St. John’s, who have already beaten the likes of Duke, UConn, Notre Dame and Georgetown at home.

Duke – The Blue Devils should be fine with Georgia Tech coming to Cameron, and they’ve won five in a row since losing in New York against St. John’s.

It should be a fun weekend for NCAA basketball fans, but a tough Sunday and Monday for those who have a say in the rankings.
