WB to Preview ‘The Dark Knight Rises?’
/Film is reporting that Warner Bros. plans to preview the first six minutes of The Dark Knight Rises at IMAX screenings of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, which hits theaters December 21.
The move is very similar to what Warner Bros. did in 2007, when the first six minutes of The Dark Knight (the bank heist scene) were shown before the IMAX presentation of I Am Legend. If this is indeed true, expect a new trailer to be attached to a blockbuster film released in December.
I bought a ticket to The Simpsons Movie just to watch The Dark Knight teaser trailer (which had nothing but the Batman logo and dialogue), and I practically spent $17 on the IMAX screening of I Am Legend just to watch the first six minutes to Christopher Nolan’s sequel. So yes, I will definitely shell out more money to watch the first six minutes of the epic conclusion of the trilogy. The only negative to this publicity stunt: having to wait another seven long months to watch the film in its entirety, and obsessing over those first six minutes. Other than that, this is great news.
