Top 10 College Football Recruiting Classes, GEORGIA Takes #9

Click here to look at #10 MICHIGAN

On The Rise

Georgia had an up and down 2009, but finished the season strong with a win against Texas A & M in the Independence Bowl. The season consisted of great wins against marquee opponents like Georgia Tech and Auburn while receiving absolute poundings against teams like Tennessee and Florida. On offense there is a definite bright future for freshman running back Washaun Easley who finished with over 700 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. I believe next year Georgia may be looking at a 9-10 wins season, but if there defense plays the way they did last year, then expect another average year with Mike Richt begin to be on the hot seat.

Playing Time as a Freshman

Alec Ogletree, Outside Linebacker/Safety: Possible/Definite: Alec has a body of a linebacker and can cover like a safety. This is a must need player with good size at 6’2 215 and good speed with 4.6 40 time. With a new defensive coordinator in Todd Grantham there may be an opportunity here with a new scheme.

Da’ Rick Rogers, Receiver: Definite: Even though Georgia has a great receiver in A.J. Green they found a way to take one of the best receivers in the country. Rogers has great speed (4.34 40 time) as well as good size at 6’2. Lucky enough for Georgia that his only knock his route running kills which is very fixable at the next level. Expect an immediate impact to the Georgia receiving core in 2010.

Possible Prospect to Sign on Signing Day with Georgia

Michael Thornton, Defensive Tackle: He is a solid prospect from Stone Mountain, Georgia. He has great quickness and elusiveness off the ball, but technique will need to develop for the next level. He finished his senior year with 80 tackles and 18 for losses. He has it down to 5, but only 2 stick out right now: Auburn and Georgia. I think he will stay home at Georgia.

My Opinion: Georgia
