The National Title Effect
Much like the previous post with Alabama, Texas has a successful time recruiting by just being in the National Title. Here is another successful recruiting class by Mack Brown who emphasizes recruits from Texas. Mack Brown and company snagged 6 5-star recruits including 2 of the 3 defensive ends in the country. This class is loaded so be ready for Texas being in another National Title real soon.
Playing Time as a Freshman
Jackson Jeffcoat, Defensive End: Possible/Definite: The #2 rated defensive end has excellent size and speed. He has great lateral range to be able to go up and down the field. In his senior year he posted over 100 tackles and 15 of them for loss. He is rated the #7 player in the country. He has ample opportunity, but Reggie Wilson will be right on his back.
Reggie Wilson, Defensive End: Possible/Definite: The #3 rated defensive end will be battling Jeffcoat for playing time. Even though both players have similar size they both offer different qualities so I will stick with Wilson’s qualities here. Wilson has great explosion and speed through the line of scrimmage. He never gives up. He is rated #14 overall and his senior high school stats read at 87 tackles, 12 for loss, and 9 sacks. He also has a great opportunity, but I believe only one will see the field often. Not sure who, but one will stand out.
Mike Davis, Wide Receiver: Possible/Definite: The #3 rated receiver in the country, Davis has excellent speed (4.38 40 time) and size (6’1 175). He caught over 1,100 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior. He is the #11 player in the country. He will see the field, but most likely be limited because of depth issues.
Possible Prospect to Sign on Signing Day with Texas
NONE: The Class is Full and no Scholarships available as well.
