Kurt Warner Retirement?
Two weeks ago Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals played there second playoff game and were pounded by the New Orleans Saints 45-14. Kurt Warner was planted into the ground early in the game and never seemed to recover from it and either did the Cardinals. Now, according to ESPN (Adam Schefter) says that Kurt Warner will make a decision on his future as a professional athlete.
In my opinion, Kurt Warner will retire from the NFL on Friday. This year he suffered another concussion early in the season which may have been a wake up call for him, but when he threw an interception early in the first half of the Saints playoff game he was knocked out by a vicious hit and may have made it an easier decision for his departure. I think he asked himself whether he could have another season like the one he just had. I think he feels he won’t.
Kurt Warner battled throughout his whole life doing anything to make it to the NFL. He worked in a convenience store bagging groceries, playing in the smaller professional leagues like the Arena Football and NFL Europe just hoping that one day he would be an NFL quarterback. He finally received his calling as a NFL quarterback much later than most football players, but he made the most of it. He became the first quarterback to throw more than 100 touchdown passes for two different NFL teams. He also became a 5-time Pro Bowl quarterback, 2-NFL MVP awards, as well as winning 1 Super Bowl. Hopefully one day he will make the Hall of Fame (I definitely think he will).
The video below is a nice montage to Kurt Warner; In my opinion, a Great Football Player, but a Better Man:
