Footage from Star Wars Animated Comedy Series, ‘Star Wars: Detours’
Footage from mysterious animated comedy television series Star Wars: Detours was unveiled by collaborator Todd Grimes and Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matt Senreich at the Star Wars Celebration VI convention in Orlando.
The show, which was announced in 2010, is similar to the humor seen in Robot Chicken and no premiere date or network has not been announced. However, judging from the trailer and length clips, I would be surprised if the show didn’t start its run sometime in 2013.
Surprisingly, the footage is solid. The exaggerated animation of the characters and the dialogue is quite funny. My personal favorite was a big-headed, small-bodied Admiral Ackbar trying figure out the famous line he’s known for:”Aha! This is a ploy! It’s a ruse! no…It’s an ambush! It’s a frappe! It’s a wrap!” Green, Grimes and Senreich are obviously fans of the saga and poke fun at the beloved characters and story lines from the films. Detours is just a bunch of inside jokes for Star Wars geeks, and I’m in.
