Building a Death Star
I’ve always wondered how much it would cost to build a Death Star, as well as how much metal is needed to build a moon-like, planet-destroying space station. Luckily the folks at Centives saved me some valuable hours of my life to do the mathematics and figure it out.
According to the web site, it would take 1.08 x 1,000,000,000,000,000 tonnes of steel to create a Death Star (damn that’s a lot) and costs about $852,000,000,000,000,000, which is 13 times more than the world’s GDP. Taking it into account the rate of steel produced annually, it would take 833,315 years to build a Death Star. So I would have live for 800 millennia to finally own an awesome Death Star, which is entirely possible when you look at modern medicine and today’s technology.
Come on Mr. President. Let’s get this started.
